CRISIL Assigns “Grade 1” to Maritime Courses of TMI
CRISIL has assigned ‘Grade 1’ to the B. Tech. (Marine Engineering) and B. Tech. (Nautical Technology) courses offered by Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI). This grading indicates that the quality of education imparted by the graded courses at the institute with respect to the course objectives as stated by DGS, is outstanding.
The assigned grade reflects TMI’s tie-up with Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS), excellent placement track record, qualified and experienced faculty, good infrastructure, good financial flexibility and professional & committed promoters.
TMI has tied-up with BITS Pilani for two of its courses, B. Tech. (Marine Engineering) and B. Tech. (Nautical Technology). TMI’s policies and procedures in areas such as selection of students, faculty, conducting examinations etc. are consistent with BITS’s guidelines and TMI graduates receive degrees awarded by BITS Pilani on successful completion of the course. TMI has a placement track record of 100 per cent, for the last three years. TMI’s faculty has a balanced mix of sea-faring and teaching experience.
TMI is managed by Tolani Education Foundation (TEF) & supported by Nandlal Tolani Charitable Trust (NTCT), both of whom are financially strong. Further, demonstrated financial support from the Tolani Group and Tolani Shipping Company Limited, lends financial flexibility to TMI. The Tolani Group, which is the promoter of TMI, has a track record of successfully managing eight educational institutes for over two decades.
The gradings are partially offset by family managed board of TEF. However, the board of TEF has appointed a Governing Council for management of the institute. Governing Council comprises independent professionals as well as professionals from Tolani Group.
